As many of our fans may know already, our upcoming show at The Band Factory will feature some new friends to the Asylum. Wild Roses will open for the boys and they couldn't be more excited! The band was looking for some new blood to do gigs with, & when they came across Wild Roses, they immediately took notice of the band. They play a good variety of music and also play original music too. The guys reached out to them to see if they would be interested in doing a gig together & they agreed! We talked to Cassie Brown, the lead singer, & asked her some questions so that we could get to know them a bit better. Here's the interview!

Soulstatic: Hi Cassie, can you give us an introduction & let us know who you are & where you're from?

Cassie: Our band consists of me, Cassie Brown, on lead vocals/rhythm guitar (originally from North Platte), Steven Koehn on drums (also from North Platte), Seth Sloan on lead guitar (yielding from Chadron), and Ryan Swenson on bass guitar (from Kearney). Right now, we all live in and are based in Kearney.

Soulstatic: How did you form the band?

Cassie: The band originally formed in March of 2020 as a group that came together to perform in a UNK talent show. We've since been through two changes in members and have played from across Nebraska from North Platte to Omaha.

Soulstatic: What kind of music do you play?

Cassie: We play mostly '70s and '80s hard rock covers as well as a number of originals inspired by that style.

Soulstatic: Do you have a preference between covers & original music?

Cassie: Although we love playing songs by our favorite bands, we are focusing on bringing more and more of our original music into our shows, which is the ultimate goal.

Soulstatic: How long have you been together?

Cassie: Wild Roses was formed almost two years ago, and we have had this current lineup for about four months.

Soulstatic: Who/How you came up with your band name?

Cassie: Our original bass player, Jacob Nore, came up with the band name inspired by a rose that had been given to Steven that was sitting in a vase on the table in their kitchen, as they were roommates at the time.

Soulstatic: Who are your musical influences?

Cassie: Between the four of us, we have a wide variety of music tastes, though we certainly can find common ground. Cassie cites influences in Heart and Journey, Steven's influences have been Def Leppard and Aerosmith, Seth's are Guns 'N Roses and Def Leppard, and Ryan's are Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

Soulstatic: Where are your favorite places to play gigs?

Cassie: There are aspects at every venue that makes each one special, but we especially enjoyed the opportunity to play at the Hear Grand Island series last summer, and we've often played at The Other Side in Kearney and even opened for national act Tantric there.

So there you have it! Be sure to make it out to The Band Factory in Cozad on February 12th 2022 for their "Love Rocks" concert to catch Wild Roses & Soulstatic rock out all nite long! Information on the gig can be found on the Gigs Page here on the site,
